The Monument Colorado Board of Directors met last month to discuss a variety of issues. During the special meeting, Mayor Bill Bass presented a detailed financial analysis of the town. He also discussed the proposed Mill Levy Override and a merger with the Tri-Lakes Monument Fire Protection District. He also touched on the sale of recreational cannabis. The board also approved a vacation of an undeveloped road and discussed railroad requests and erosion.

After that, the regular Friday Family Story Time will resume from 10:30 to 11:15.
The Monument International Association of Firefighters also held a regional cancer seminar May 13. Four national experts on cancer prevention and education presented their findings on the risks and prevention of the disease. The seminar was sponsored and organized by the Monument International Association of Firefighters Local 4319. The seminar was attended by many community members. It was a great way to promote community health.Monument Lake offers easy fishing close to town. It is stocked with 10,000 rainbow trout and 2,000 channel catfish. It also has bluegill, largemouth bass, and perch. The lake is less than an hour from the city of Colorado Springs and is located nearby Sugarloaf Mountain. Penrose-Rosemont Reservoir is another excellent fishing spot. Here, anglers can catch rainbow trout, brook trout, and splake.
